Watching Movies - Not any more a big task

Image result for netflix vs hulu vs amazon vs sling vs redbox

5 years back from now, watching a movie is all about going to theatres and enjoy the movie along with the theatre experience by grabbing some snacks(Popcorn, Samosa, puffs, Ice Creams, etc.,) and Cool Drinks. That's how the Indian movie lovers enjoy a movie experience.
Even this is how the people love to experience a movie in most of the countries. As the technology is evolving day by day, Nowadays in the US, the audience who comes to theatres is gradually decreasing because of the online streaming sites. If you wanted to know more about this let's dive into the details.

Most of the families think, instead of going to a theatre and spend around $15 buck per each, They are planning to stay home and watch the movie altogether. Nowadays there are many video-on-demand streaming services where you can have a subscription for the monthly and you can watch whatever they have in their store. This is what attracts most of the people so that they can watch whatever they want and whenever they need. Many of the streaming services are cashing this, in particular, there are many companies come to this category they are
  • Netflix
  • Hulu
  • PS Vue
  • Sling
  • Amazon Prime
  • Direct Now
All these company's purpose was the same, To entertain people wherever they want and whenever they need. I should say they succeeded in doing that. I should also mention another service named Redbox, this is a service where you can rent a movie or game DVDs by having an account at Redbox. These people made this very easy by placing Vending Machines in most of the grocery stores or in most of the stores with a more populated area with more crowds. You should go and select a movie and pay there are get a movie DVD and you should return that whenever you want.

All these services are making people stay out of the theatres and watch movies in their homes. But the only thing people will miss watching a movie in early days of its release as all these streaming services will add the latest movies quite lately into their applications and obviously they might miss the theatre experience.

Now there was an interesting service Name MoviePass, an American Subscription based ticketing service. This changed all the equations for the people who wanted to watch a movie in the theatre and also it grabbing people into the theatres. Because of this service even theatre chains like Regal Cinemas, AMC, ShowCase, Cinemark, Cinemagic, etc,. are cashing this advantage by gaining money from food and drinks in theatres. MoviePass is a monthly subscription where you pay monthly around $10 and watch a movie/day free in any theatre nearby. Most of the people started getting this subscription and it is quite new just introduced in 2017 and should see how long this will serve its customers.

This is how people in America experience watching movies and most of the organizations making money using this idea. Even in India, this culture was started recently as Netflix and Amazon Prime introduced them to India, people are started to transform in this manner of watching movies in their home. As if we see the services like Netflix, Amazon prime, Hotstar, Yupp Tv etc., they are making money using this Idea and the content that they publish in this sites are no more available in any social sites like youtube.
We should wait and see how this technology will change watching movies in future.

Gandikota - its no more a secret

Gandikota is a historical village in the right bank of river Pennar, 15km from Jammalamadugu in Kadapa dt, Andhra Pradesh. The reason the gorge of Gandikota is named is because the name is comprised of two Telugu words, gandi, a gorge and kota, a fort. Needless to say, the place boasts both of them. One can stand there in overlooking the magnificent Pennar from the top of the gorge. Gandikota is home for Kamma Kings who ruled this fort for nearly 300 years.
There is however a bigger story and a deeper one explaining the love the people and the kings had for Gandikota. Once upon a time in the year of 1213th era of Salivahana lived a King called Kaka Maharaju in Bommanapalle, a village close by Yerrakonda, about two miles east of Penner. The site of Gandikota was discovered by the King during hunting expedition. He was totally mesmerized by the place and he started inquiring about the place. The locals told him the sacred nature of the place and how important it is according to the sthala purana written about that place. The King further took the advice of the elderly men and other counsellors who told him to establish the village there. Hence the village of Gandikota was founded on the banks of the river Penner.
The story continues, it is said that in the 1297th year of Salivahana Harihara Bukkarayalu earned the throne of Vijayanagar. His reign was highly prosperous and incomparable. The King visit Varanasi and brought the holy water from the river Ganga. On his way back the king found statues or images of four gods buried in sand on the banks of river Godavari. The king instructed for the temples to be built. On the way of his return, the temples for two of the gods were built at Gooty and Pamidi. The details about the remaining two gods are not so clear so I’d refrain from mentioning it. Then he came to Gandikota and saw the fort. When he was hunting in the area around the fort, it is said that god Madhavaswami appeared to him and told him that the particular place of Gandikota was sacred and consisted of many holy streams. The lord asked the king to build a temple there and hence it was done.
Incidentally the local legend of the place mentioned in the sthalapurana regarding Kaka Maharaju, the date coincides with the kings of Warangal. The place was supposedly said to be founded by the Kakatiya king Ambadeva or his successor Prataparudra. Eventually after the end of Vijayanagara at the battle of Talikota, the village of Gandikota stayed in control of local chiefs and then won by the kings of Golconda followed by the Nawabs of Cuddapah. It was unfortunate that the Kings of Golconda never really did understand the strategic position Gandikota offered. Adding to the agitation of the villagers the kings butchered over a hundred cows belonging to the temple.
The place of Gandikota has severed as an important strategic location for over several centuries and the ritual importance of the place is as critical as the fort. If it were not for the local legends, the importance of Gandikota would have forever been lost to history.
